Since our food server Nikki left to start her nursing career, we have been subjected to continuous bad service. Met with the manager today and was basically informed that we aren't the kind of people they want there. So we are moving to other locations. I have another east side eatery that wants us at least once a month, and would really appreciate someone volunteering to host one in the northwest monthly. Just please don't plan it on the 3rd sat. or the 1st. sunday. Everything else is open at this point.

FREE FUN SHOW
http://www.myspace.com/penelopeswales Melbourne Singer/Songwriter Penelope Swales will tour internationally in 2008 to promote her 9th solo CD Skin: Deep - Polymorphous Love Songs "I used to traipse around the place, having love affairs and singing about politics" quips Penelope. "Now I study politics and only want to sing about love.” Fans of Swales's political material should not despair. In truth, there is plenty that is political about Skin: Deep. "So Lucky" is the obvious track here, as it invites the listener to consider the ways in which we in industrialized democracies take our good fortune for granted, both forgetting the role previous radicals played in creating our freedoms and overlooking the fact that, as willing consumers, we play a central role in an economic system that creates massive inequity on a global scale.
But there is also running through the album a deep chord of rebellion. At a time when sexual conservatism seems to be again on the rise, Swales is championing the individual woman's right to explore, own her body and define the nature of her desires. Skin: Deep ventures deep into the uncharted territory of human relationships exploring themes such as polyamory, jealousy, compassion, grief and confidence. The nature of loyalty and disloyalty, greed and generosity, and the often unspoken role that power plays in eroticism are all addressed with unnerving honesty and accuracy. Swales, now in her late thirties, has clearly lived much of what she is writing about, and brings an astute sensibility to the subject matter that younger, less worldy or less truthful songwriters fall short of. There are no ideals here, just bulletins from a life lived with passion and veracity.
http://www.myspace.com/traceyhope Tracey "Hope" Miravite Tracey began playing guitar at the age of 12 and by 13, she had paved her way into the realm of music, by learning drums and bass guitar. Slowly but surely, she began to write and compose her own music. By the age of 17, with a few songs under her belt, she decided to start recording, and turned her childhood pastime into a lifetime passion. "A life without music is no life at all," says Tracey, and her life is expressed genuinely in her music and vividly in her performances. Influences include Travis, the Cardigans, Stereophonics, Radiohead, Weezer, Sarah McLachlan, and Charlotte Martin. She lives in Vegas and fronts a couple of bands.
And, your hostess, Renee Christy, will be doing poetry, comedy, chiding and dirty blues between these lovely sirens. No cover, but if you like these ladies, please tip and/or buy CDs.
Apologies if you see this more than once. It means we probably have things in common and you should come meet us. Bi, poly, kinky, geeky and sexy are good things.
The Freakin' Frog is a non-smoking bar, with good food and great beer. Located on Maryland Parkway, between Tropicana and Harmon, behind Adam's Ribs.

Tonight is the 5th anniversary party for Mark and Megan of the M&M poetry readings, now helded at ReJavanate coffeehouse, Flamingo and Pecos, between Food 4 Less and Hollywood Video. Show starts at 7pm and goes approxamately 3 hours. The list of features is wonderful, but if you specifically want to see my performance, I'll be on after 9pm, as I'm closing the show.
Saturday night is Game Night at Screwballs, starting at 7pm. We are looking at a good turn out. It will be a final, local, public appearance of Ross and Sandy, who have hosted some grand parties at their place. We wish them luck, in their new home in Northern Nevada, but we'll still beat them at cards, boardgames and all the other stuff we'll be playing that night. LOL! We all got lots of new games for Xmas, but there are always willing players for the classics, like Spades, Euchere, Backgammon, Scrabble, etc... Screwballs is on Warm Springs, just west of Las Vegas Blvd., with easy freeway access from the 15/215 interchange.
Monday afternoon, Martin Luther King Day, which many of you have off, Mistress of Merriment Productions is doing a fundraiser for Burners Without Borders, to help finance the repairs they are doing in Fernley, NV, where the levy broke and flooded the town. Fernley is the last stop for gas and supplies, for most of those heading to Burning Man, so helping the town is one way to support art in Nevada. Go to the BWB website for info on this and other great progects.
Pinball Hall of Fame Pecos and Tropicana (next to Tropicana Cinemas) 2pm to 7pm $5 All you can eat pizza Bring your own drinks, or buy them there. Bring quarters to play games And any other amount, or relief equipment, you might want to donate to BWB. The party will be in the back right hand corner of the museum. Pinball HOF website

Tomorrow, Sun. the 30th, we'll be visiting the corner of Tropicana and Pecos. At 6pm we'll be hitting the Pinball Hall of Fame, and at 7pm we'll be dining, chatting and gaming at Putters next door. There will be free chocolate cake and lots of fun people.
On Friday, Jan. 4th, we will be at the Star Trek Experience for locals appreciation day. The rides are free, for those with local ID, and we'll be meeting up afterwards at Quark's Bar downstairs. Figure 6pm if you want to do the whole thing, 7pm if you only want to do the Borg 3D or the Klingon fight or the Future History Museum. Or just meet us at Quark's, the most out of this world bar in Vegas, around 8pm.
On Tuesday, Jan. 15th, I'll be featuring at ReJavanate, Flamingo and Pecos, next to Hollywood Video. Cool locally owned coffee house. It's the M&M poetry hosting team's 5th Anniversary Show. I don't know what time I'm on, but come for the whole show starting at 7pm, or 6:30 if you want a seat and drink before the rush.
Saturday, Jan. 19th, is Game Night! Screwballs on Warm Springs just west of Las Vegas Blvd, from 7pm to 10pm...at least. Bring that crazy game you got for Xmas and find some willing victims, I mean participants to try it out. As always, backgammon, Scrabble, Taboo, Trivial Pursuit, and myriad card games will be played.
RSVPs not required, but appreciated.
